Our History
In 2016 while viewing a documentary on food insecurity in the United States I learned that senior citizens suffer at alarming rates. This issue really plagued me and I desired to help diminish the problem. At that time I was working on completing my dissertation for my Ph.D. and had minimal time to address my concerns. As time progressed this social problem remained on my mind. When I graduated in 2018, I decided to help alleviate this problem. In December 2018 I challenged 30 family members, friends, and coworkers to join me as I prepared a home-cooked meal to serve senior citizens in the community. The volunteers provided games and gifts. From that day forward we have been serving senior citizens and veterans in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Together we make a difference.

Our Mission
Dr. Dash and Friends Serving Our Seniors and Veterans' mission is to enhance the well-being of senior citizens and veterans in neighborhoods across America by minimizing food insecurity, poverty, and social isolation. To address food insecurity prevalent in the midst of a global pandemic our organization currently provides COVID 19 survival bags filled with food, PPE, and toiletries to senior citizens living in senior housing apartments and veterans residing in community housing.
Our vision
Our vision is to empower senior citizens and veterans by educating them on methods to access community resources, provide resources to diminish food insecurity, address the inability to access services due to transportation deficits, and enhance community involvement to diminish social isolation.

Our core values are love, understanding, inclusion, hope, and community. Every individual served is entreated with love from the moment they are encountered. We serve senior citizens and veterans of all ethnic groups, races, and gender identities. Dr. Dash and Friends Serving Our Seniors and Veterans utilize a community service model to provide concrete services to those we serve.
